Daniel Spath

I started working with Boatshed Panama in June 2022.

What did you do before working with Boatshed?
I grew up in Cartagena, a very historic coastal port city where I developed a passion for sailing and driving motor boats in the Caribbean coast of Colombia. After competitive sailing around the world from an age of 10 until 18, sailing had become my number one hobby. Therefore I decide to enrol in the California Merchant Marine Academy because i had a dream to study all the necessary subjects in order to become a professional mariner.

I studied marine transportation with a minor in business administration and maritime law. Once I graduated with an unlimited tonnage license, I started sailing as second mate and then moved up to first mate, later during my career as captain. I decide to retire and become a yacht Captain and I started doing some more competitive sailing and sport-fishing tournaments. I also worked as a generator salesman where I developed a series of mechanical and electrical skills that have helped me understand the mechanical side of an engine room.

I still sail and fish and I have a strong passion for selling boats and and buying boats which is the reason I have a decide to be part of Boatshed team.

What attracted you to become part of the Boatshed team?
Having the opportunity to work here in Colombia in order to sell boats that are available locally by using Boatshed sales and marketing tools and experience in the international maritime brokerage field.

Are you a motorboater or a sailor?
I consider myself both of them!

What is your most memorable boating experience?
I will say going across the Bearing Sea and the Aleutian Islands has one of the nicest and more different scenery as I sailor I have experienced watching.
